Pinterest image sizes for 2026

Every placement, with the pixel size Pinterest renders it at and the ratio to design for. Sizes come from Pinterest's current creator guidance; we re-check them monthly. The resizer above has a preset for each.

Why 2:3 still wins

Pinterest lays the feed out in columns of equal width, so a pin's height decides how much screen it gets. A 2:3 pin takes about 50 percent more space than a square at the same width, and it is the tallest ratio Pinterest shows without cropping. Taller pins used to grab even more space; since 2023 the feed crops anything beyond roughly 1:2.1, which is why the long pin trend died.

Width matters less than ratio. Pinterest serves images at up to 1000 pixels wide on desktop and scales down for phones, so 1000 by 1500 is enough. Larger files add upload time without adding sharpness.

The safe zone

On a closeup, Pinterest overlays the title, the save button and the profile row on your image. Anything in the bottom 15 percent or within 5 percent of the edges can be covered. The resizer draws the safe zone as a dashed frame so you can check text and logos before you download. If the picture is being trimmed, use the slider to move it so the important part sits inside the frame.

Idea pins and video

Idea pins and video pins are full-screen vertical at 9:16, which is 1080 by 1920. The feed preview is still cropped to 2:3, so place the hook of the first frame in the middle of the canvas. Video should be MP4 or MOV, under 2 GB, and between 4 seconds and 15 minutes. The "Idea pin / video cover" preset exports a still at the right size for the cover frame.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Pinterest pin size in 2026?
1000 by 1500 pixels, a 2:3 ratio. Pinterest's creator guidance recommends 2:3, and pins at that ratio show without cropping in the home feed, search results and board grids.
Can I upload a pin taller than 2:3?
Yes, up to about 1:2.1, which is 1000 by 2100 pixels. Beyond that Pinterest crops the feed preview, so anything taller risks hiding your text overlay.
Does file size matter?
Pinterest accepts images up to 20 MB, but anything over about 2 MB slows the upload with no visible benefit. Export JPG at 80 to 90 percent quality, or PNG for flat graphics with text.
What is the safe zone?
The area that stays visible in every placement. Keep titles and logos inside the middle 80 percent and away from the bottom 15 percent, where Pinterest overlays the title and the save button on a closeup.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizer runs entirely in your browser with the canvas API. The file never leaves your computer, and we do not store it.
