Where styled text works on Pinterest
- Display name. The most common use. A bold or script name stands out in search results and on the profile.
- Bio. Good for one decorative line, such as a tagline. Keep the sentence with your keywords in plain text.
- Board names and descriptions. It works, but it costs you search visibility, so use it only for boards you do not need people to find by search.
- Pin titles and descriptions. Avoid it. Titles are the strongest search signal you have.
- Comments. Fine, and a small way to stand out.
Tips
- Mix one styled word with plain words rather than styling a whole sentence. It reads better and keeps the plain keywords searchable.
- Check how it looks on a phone. Most Pinterest traffic is mobile, and a few styles render differently there.
- If Pinterest rejects a paste, try the Sans or Bold style. The Mathematical Alphanumeric block is the most widely supported.
Frequently asked questions
- How does a font generator work if Pinterest has no font settings?
- These are not fonts. They are different Unicode characters that happen to look like bold, italic or script letters. Pinterest shows them the same way it shows any text, so you can paste them into your name, bio, board names and descriptions.
- Will fancy text hurt my Pinterest search ranking?
- Yes, for anything you want found. Pinterest search matches the normal letters people type, and 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧 is not the same character as Vegan. Use styled text for your display name or a decorative line in your bio, and keep board names and pin titles in plain letters.
- Can screen readers read this text?
- Mostly no. Many screen readers spell styled characters out letter by letter or skip them, so keep anything important in plain text.
- Why do some styles show as boxes or question marks?
- The device is missing a font for that Unicode block. Bold, italic and script are safe almost everywhere. Squared and outline letters are the most likely to fail on older Android phones.
- Is there a limit on name and bio length?
- Your Pinterest display name can be up to 65 characters and your bio up to 160. Styled characters count the same as normal ones, except the spaced-out style, which adds a space after every letter.
