Pin Doctor: Pinterest SEO checker

Score a draft pin out of 100 against Pinterest's search rules and get a fix for every point lost.

Pin Doctor

Paste your draft pin. You get a score out of 100 and a fix for every point you lost.

How the score works

Pinterest search reads the text attached to a pin, then ranks the candidates by engagement. Pin Doctor checks the first half: whether your text would make the pin a candidate for the search you want. Every point maps to one rule, so the fix is always concrete.

GroupPointsWhat earns them
Title25Under 100 characters, keyword in the first 40, not in capitals, no hashtags or emoji.
Description25150 to 800 characters of real sentences, keyword in the first sentence, no keyword lists or empty calls to action.
Keyword10A specific phrase of two or more words, used in both the title and the description.
First board10Under 50 characters, a real topic, and sharing words with the pin.
Alt text10Describes the image in plain words, not a copy of the title.
Landing page20Loads with status 200 over https, has Open Graph tags, matches the pin's topic, and has rich pin tags.

Leave the link out and the score is calculated from the first five groups, scaled to 100.

What to do with a low score

Fix the red items first: they are the ones that keep a pin out of search altogether, such as a missing keyword or a description that reads as a list. Then the yellow ones. The AI rewrite keeps your facts and changes only what failed, and you can apply it and check again. For a fresh set of titles and descriptions from scratch, use the description generator.

What Pin Doctor does not check

The image, your account's history and your posting rhythm all affect distribution, and none of them can be read from text. The Pinterest SEO guide covers the full picture, and the checklist is the short version.

Frequently asked questions

What does the score measure?
How well the pin's text gives Pinterest search what it reads: a keyword early in the title and in the first sentence of the description, sensible lengths, a matching first board, real alt text, and a landing page that loads over https and is about the same topic. It does not predict engagement, which depends on the image and the audience.
Can I check a pin that is already published?
Not by its Pinterest link yet. Copy its title, description and link into the form instead. Reading published pins through the Pinterest API is planned once BoardBooster's API access is approved.
Is 100 realistic?
Yes, and it is not hard: every check is a plain rule you can satisfy. A score above 85 means the text is doing its job; the rest is the image and consistency.
Does it check the image?
No. Use the pin size guide and resizer for that: 2:3 ratio, 1000 by 1500 pixels, text overlay readable on a phone.
Is my pin stored?
The deterministic check runs and returns; nothing is saved except an anonymous count and the score. If you ask for the AI rewrite, the text is sent to the AI provider for that one request and not kept by us.
